ANNOUNCER: Welcome to the VTalk Radio's Photographer Spotlight with your host, John Bentley.

ANNOUNCER: This program is sponsored by morephotos.com the online photo sales solution to professional photographers worldwide.

JOHN: Today we are in the Studio with Brad Neizer of Evolution Photographics of Overland Park, Kansas. Welcome to VTalk Radio's Photographer Spotlight this morning, Brad.

BRAD: Good Morning.

JOHN: Would you tell our listeners what kind of products and services Evolution Photographics offers to professional photographers.

BRAD: Well, we're a full service photo finishing lab offering all of your standard print sizes and enlargements up to poster size 24 x 36. Some of our specialty products include canvas, fine art paper, and other specialty media which kind of sets us apart here in the Kansas City area. We also offer online hosting services for our photographers where they are able to post their images and have their customers view them. We have online ordering capabilities allowing you to order everything from a 4 x 6 to a 15 piece collage. Our program has many templates built into it so it takes some of the creative pressures off some of our photographers. We've gone ahead and set up some things of that nature for them.

JOHN: So when you say full service lab, you're pretty much handling everything that the photographer needs then?

BRAD: That's correct. Whether they're shooting film or digital, we do everything from printing to the final assembly of albums for them. Color management, taking care of editing photos, switching heads, switching eyes, removing glass glare, all those standard retouching services, plus as I mentioned the finishing capabilities so they're able to walk into our lab, drop off their images, and pick up their finished album.

JOHN: Now what would be the use of canvas for a photographer?

BRAD: For a photographer, what's become popular here in the last year is what is commonly called a gallery wrap, and that is where we print an image onto canvas and then that image is stretched around a frame and it actually has about an inch and a half on each side of the image spilling over the edges. What this does is, number 1 offers a unique product on canvas and number 2 also takes away from the need to have to frame the piece. This is ready to go right on the wall and has a very contemporary look to it.

JOHN: Now you offer online proofing. Tell me a little bit about that.

BRAD: Our online proofing services are provided through More Photos. Basically what that is is our photographers are able to upload all their images from any event that they photograph whether that be a portrait session, a wedding, or an actual corporate event. Their customers are then able to log into the site via a user name and password, view all the images from the event, and place their order; ordering everything that the photographer is offering for that particular event. Prints, CD of images, pretty much anything that the photographer wants to be offering, they are able to put that up on the web.

JOHN: It certainly makes it easy for the customers, doesn't it?

BRAD: Oh yes, certainly and convenient. A lot of our customers are wedding photographers and often times in those situations guests are coming from distances far away so within 3 - 4 days times, guests from out of state are able to view all the images and place orders also.

JOHN: What kind of paper do you use?

BRAD: We're a Fuji professional lab. We use Fuji professional based paper and that's all the way up through our 24 x 36 prints.

JOHN: Now tell us how long has Evolution Photographics been in business?

BRAD: Our business has been in existence for 5 years. We're a family owned business. Our father has been in the industry for 35 years. I've been in it for 15 myself. We came more from the service and marketing, engineering side of it. I worked for a company that was actually purchased by Kodak, and about 5 years ago, my father and I decided to give the business a shot ourselves.

JOHN: Would you share your website and contact information with our listeners today, Brad.

BRAD: www.evolutionphotographics.com.

JOHN: And what about phone number?

BRAD: (913) 498-1401

VTALK RADIO: VTalk Radio.

ANNOUNCER: This VTalk Radio's Photographer Spotlight is sponsored by morephotos.com, the online photo sales solution to professional photographers worldwide.

ANNOUNCER: We now return you to VTalk Radio's Photographer Spotlight with your host, John Bentley.

JOHN: Welcome back to VTalk Radio's Photographer Spotlight. We are in the studio today with Brad Neizer of Evolution Photographics in Overland Park, Kansas. Welcome back, Brad.

BRAD: Thank you.

JOHN: Now we've been talking about your lab and the services that you guys offer; can you tell me any special services that you offer that most labs don't.

BRAD: Well here locally, one thing that we're excited about this fall is we have just put in a digital printing press. A lot of the photo finishing market has been kind of joining with the press market and what this does for us is this fall we will be able to folded greeting cards, two sided postcards, coffee table books, leather bound. We have a new online ordering program that will allow our customers to go to our site, design their greeting cards, submit them to us for printing. We're really seeing a big trend in the photo finishing market as a lot of our photographers and our retail market is looking for more unique products. So we're really excited about that this holiday season. We think it's going to do really well.

JOHN: Can photographers email their photo files directly to you?

BRAD: You know, we kind of try to stay away from basic email. What we do have is an online ordering program that is called Rose. You can download it from our website. It doesn't require any registration or anything. What it does is allow you to submit your files to us. It allows you to perform any cropping or retouching instructions, change your prints to black and white or sepia, and also as I mentioned earlier, order some of our specialty products, some of the collage based products that we have out there. We probably see close to 60% of our business coming in through our online ordering program.

JOHN: Great. And what about drop shipping directly to photographer's customers? Do you do that?

BRAD: Yes, we certainly do. That's something that we started doing about a year ago, and depending on our photographer's needs or the situation, we provide everything in a plain package so that nothing is coming branded from us. In our online ordering program, we actually have a spot there that indicates a drop ship. You can select that and type in your customer's information, and we'll ship directly to them.

JOHN: Talk about easy to use. That certainly encompasses the full service lab then.

BRAD: Oh yeah, you know, in this day and age, you really have to be able to do everything. So, we try to make it as easy as possible for our customers.

JOHN: Now, Brad, could you give your website and contact information one more time for our listeners?

BRAD: Sure can. It's www.evolutionphotographics.com we're in Overland Park, Kansas. Our telephone number is (913) 498-1401.
